When it comes to raising awareness in women's participation in the motorbike racing scene, Maria Costello is ahead of many women in the scene since her debut at the 1997 Honda CB500 Cup. She’s raced World Endurance, European Superstock and other short circuits since then. She focuses primarily on road racing in Ireland, especially the TT where she achieved a female lap record for many years, and the Manx Grand Prix. Costello has also written her autobiography and still promotes her women-only track days.

21-year-old Maria Herrera Munoz from Toledo, Spain, led the Spanish CEV Moto3 Championship in 2014- the wildly competitive feeder class into MotoGP Moto3- with a win and second place. Although she failed at a wildcard ride in Moto3 at 2013’s Aragon MotoGP, it didn’t stop her from showing off her potential in the Junior Team Estrella Galicia early results where she rides a Honda Moto3 NSF250, leading home a field of 19 other riders, all male, all teenagers, and all riding out of their skins. Could she be the female Marc Marquez?

Tinmouth is the first and only woman racing in British Superbikes, the 2014 season opener at Brands BSB was qualifying in horrible, slippery, wet conditions, but she still took her TWR Fireblade to 17th place on the grid and left a trail of seasoned BSB regulars in her wake. Tinmouth was one of the fastest-ever woman at the TT setting an outright lap of 119.9mph in 2010.

24-year-old Jane Daniels was UK’s number one female enduro rider in 2014, taking second place overall in Women’s Enduro World Cup in 2013 and winning the race in France, thus beating her competitor and champ Laia Sanz.  In 2014, Daniels came in second in the opening Spanish round of the WEWC, and finished 12th overall in the Expert class at the Tough One hard enduro at Hawkstone Park. She’s been highly rated by her fellow male riders, and she’s someone all riders should watch out, regardless of her gender.

21 year old Ana Carrasco Gabarron was the only female competitor in 2014 for the MotoGP, riding a Kalex KTM in Moto3. Born in Spain, Gabarron started riding at the age of three, competed in the Spanish MiniGP series and rode in the Spanish 125 Championship. At age 16, she made her World Championship debut in 2013 and took home her first World Championship points in the Malaysian GP later that year. Gabarron’s motto is “A woman in a man’s world”.
